Telephoned ahead of visit and arrived promptly. Very polite and informative offered follow-up advice and a new quote but wasn’t pushy. Would definitely use again.
Drain survey and repair work. -
A structural engineer recommended us to carry out a drain survey to re confirm the cause of subsidence on the house. We initially got a survey done by STWA who suggested there was no leak. To get a 2nd opinion, we employed Happy Drains to do the same. Happy Drains sent out a full report along with the positions of the leaks. We than spoke to Jason who took time and explained how it worked. We employed Happy Drains to carry out the repairs via the Resin Method and work work done on date arranged. Keeping the fingers crossed - No issues arise for next few years. A Big thank you.
We had our kitchen sink drain pipes unblocked.
I couldn’t stress just how amazing Happy Drains are. Extremely efficient. They kept in contact and explained everything over the phone first. Then the lovey gentleman they carried out the work was very considerate to my brother’s learning difficulties. And explained everything to him. I am extremely grateful for the work that was completed that day.

Call Now: 07824 757572Leicester's city center and inner suburbs feature extensive Victorian-era drainage systems with characteristic salt-glazed clay pipes. These historic drainage networks in LE1 require specialist knowledge to maintain and repair without disrupting the period character of properties. Our engineers understand the construction methods used in Leicester's Golden Mile area and around the Cultural Quarter, where drainage systems often connect to shared sewers typical of 19th-century urban planning. We use modern no-dig repair techniques to preserve the integrity of these heritage drainage systems while ensuring they meet contemporary performance standards.
Leicester sits on predominantly clay soil that expands significantly when wet and shrinks during dry periods, causing ground movement that affects drainage systems. This is particularly evident in areas like Wigston LE18 and around Melton Mowbray LE13, where seasonal ground movement can displace pipe joints and create low spots where waste accumulates. Our engineers factor in these geological conditions when diagnosing drainage problems and recommending repairs. We often find that drainage issues in Leicester coincide with periods of heavy rainfall followed by dry spells, when the clay soil movement is most pronounced.
Wigston LE18 and Leicester's newer residential areas feature modern drainage systems with larger diameter plastic pipes and improved gradients. However, these developments often experience different challenges, including construction debris blockages and inadequate fall due to space constraints in higher-density housing. Our recent work in these areas has involved clearing blockages caused by building materials and ensuring proper flow rates in compact drainage layouts. We use high-pressure jetting equipment specifically calibrated for these modern plastic pipe systems to avoid damage while achieving effective clearance.

Severn Trent Water manages sewerage and drainage infrastructure throughout Leicester and Leicestershire. However, property owners remain responsible for private drains and sewers up to the boundary of their property. We work closely with Severn Trent when blockages occur at the junction between private and public systems, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently.
Leicester's Victorian and Edwardian housing areas in LE1 have aging clay drainage pipes that are susceptible to root penetration from the city's mature tree canopy. The local clay soil expands and contracts with weather changes, causing pipe joints to separate. Combined with narrower pipe diameters typical of period properties, these factors create ideal conditions for blockages, which is why we see frequent call-outs to Leicester's established residential areas.
